Support For Learning

Although this is a self-study course, you are not alone in the learning process. Your instructor will be available to assist you in different ways. Also, ask someone you work with, or an individual in the community, who has both training and experience in early childhood education to act as a resource person.

Instructional Team

The Instructional Team is available to provide support and guidance for as you learn. The Instructional Team are qualified to teach the Orientation Course for Child Care Center Staff and are experienced in working in childcare.

The Instructional Team will assist you in the following ways:

  1. Providing assistance as you begin the course. You may have questions about your study schedule, or how to use the learning materials.
  2. Answering questions concerning the session materials and content. You may have a discussion with your instructor about a particular concept or skill.
  3. Keeping records of your completed sessions. When you have completed the sessions and have submitted all the assignments, your instructor will be able to review your sessions and provide feedback as necessary. When all assignments have been passed, you will then have access to your tests.

An instructor is available to help you understand the course material. They will answer your questions and clarify any misunderstandings that you might have about the content.

An instructor is responsible for assessing whether or not you have met the learning objectives for each session and recommending any additional work that you might need to do in order to demonstrate the required level of understanding.

Instructors will recommend to the Government of Alberta whether or not you should be granted a Level 1 - Early Childhood Educator Certification once you have completed the course.
